## The setup

Every major photo platform can create a shared album with an invite link — that link is your payload. Create the album, set its permissions (below), copy the invite URL into the [URL generator](/url), and print the code where guests sit: table cards, the welcome sign, the bar.

A card on a table is read from **0.3–0.5 m**, so the 10:1 rule asks for a code just **3–5 cm wide** — print at 5 cm and you have margin, comfortably above the 2 × 2 cm print floor. ## Decide privacy before the day, not after

A shared album link is an open door: **anyone holding the link can typically view everything in the album**, and table cards get photographed and shared beyond the room. Walk through these before printing:

## The link will die before the memory does

Album links are the shortest-lived component of the whole arrangement. Platforms archive inactive shared albums, expire invite links, change sharing models, or retire products entirely — and the printed keepsake (the guest book page, the framed table card someone kept) outlives all of it.

Two practical consequences:

1. **Download the full archive within weeks of the event**, while everyone's uploads are present and the link still works. Treat the album as a collection point, not the permanent home.
2. **For anything meant as a keepsake**, point the code at a URL on a domain you control and redirect it to the album — then when the album moves, [re-point the redirect](/docs/how-to/how-to-change-what-a-qr-code-points-to) and the keepsake keeps working.
